DETECTIVE GAME

Detective game for birthdays and an evening with friends

Instead of one more dinner: a shared investigation for three, four or six people. Good for birthdays, house parties and long weekends.

A party where everyone has something to do

The best evenings with friends are the ones where nobody sits aside with a phone. A detective game gives everyone a job: one person reads the statements aloud, another measures traces, a third keeps the notes, and a fourth claims to know the murderer from page one and is of course wrong.

Ostatni Odczyt is designed for 1-6 players, so it works well at a table with a group of friends. You play at one big screen (a computer connected to a TV or a projector) or each on your own device, signed in to the same account.

How to organise the evening

  1. Agree on a date and time. The whole case takes 5-7 hours. For a birthday pick one long afternoon with a break for food, or two shorter meetings.
  2. Take care of the screen. The bigger the better: sheets and maps are easier to read and everybody sees the same thing.
  3. Prepare paper and pens. Your own notes help a lot when you need to line up times and statements.
  4. Share the roles. An archivist (keeps track of what lies where), a measurer (ruler and 1:1 sheets), a chronicler (notes), a devil's advocate (challenges every claim).
  5. Agree on one rule: a hint only when the whole team agrees.

The game as a birthday gift

You buy the game as a gift and choose the birthday. In the morning the invitation with the code reaches the birthday person's e-mail, and you get a copy of the code to hand over in person (printed, in an envelope, with a card). They will invite whoever they like to the table. It is a gift that turns into an evening for the whole group. Details: detective game as a gift.

Who it is for and who it is not for

Good for a group that likes to talk, argue about details and think together. Less so for guests who come for music and dancing: this is calm, focused play. The game is for players aged 15 and over and tells of a person's death, with no graphic images.

Questions about an evening with friends

How many people can play together?

From 1 to 6. With a bigger group, split into two teams on two accounts so that everybody has a real say in the investigation.

Does everyone need an account?

No. One account is enough and you can play at one screen. Anyone who wants to can sign in to the same account on their own device.

What if somebody has to leave?

Progress is saved on the account. You can stop at any moment and return with the same team or a different one.

How much time should we set aside?

Plan 5-7 hours in total, most comfortably in two parts.
