A date at home with a plot
Cinema, dinner, a walk: you know the routine by heart. A detective game changes the dynamics because you stop sitting next to each other and start working together. One of you reads the statements, the other compares the times on camera stills. Then you swap conclusions and discover you have two different versions of the events. That is how the best evenings begin.
Ostatni Odczyt works very well for two, even though the case is designed for 1-6 players. Two people are enough to read the files, measure traces and answer the control questions, and at one screen nobody drops out of the conversation.
How to plan an evening for two
- Pick two evenings. The whole case takes 5-7 hours, so spreading it over two sessions beats racing the clock. Progress is saved automatically on the account.
- Prepare the table. A laptop or tablet, a sheet of paper and a pencil for your own notes. Put the phones away: details really matter in this case.
- Share the roles, but do not freeze them. At first one of you leads the reading and the other takes notes. Swap after each act.
- Add your own tradition. Tea, favourite snacks, background music (the game has its own, but you can mute it with one tap).
What makes this game work for couples
- Nobody is a spectator. Every envelope ends with a control question, and a good answer opens the next one. You have to agree before you move on.
- The tools keep two pairs of hands busy. A ruler and 1:1 sheets, a light table for overlaying documents, a time converter and a cipher wheel.
- There is no time pressure. You can stop mid-act and come back tomorrow at exactly the same place.
- Hints are within reach but do not tempt. There are three for every envelope, mirrored, so neither of you reads them by accident.

Is it a game for us?
Let us be honest: this is not a puzzle for a quarter of an hour. You read reports, compare timestamps and measure traces, and you fill in the solution card yourselves. If you like shared puzzles, crime novels or escape rooms, you will feel at home. If you want light fun with no effort, start with something shorter. The game is for players aged 15 and over and tells of a person's death, with no graphic images.
A gift idea for your other half
Want to surprise your partner? Buy the game as a gift, choose a day (an anniversary, say) and add a message. The invitation with the code lands in their inbox in the morning of the chosen day, and you get a copy of the code to hand over in person. Details: detective game as a gift.
Questions we hear most
Is two enough when the game is for up to six?
Yes. The number of players does not change the case. Two people share the reading and the conclusions, and working at one screen is comfortable.
How long is one session?
Plan two evenings of 2-3 hours. The game saves progress itself, so a break at any moment breaks nothing.
What do we play on?
In a browser: on a computer, tablet or phone, most comfortably on a larger screen. There is nothing to install.
What if we get stuck?
There are three hints for every envelope. The third practically gives the answer, so keep it for last.
