What an online detective game is
It is a crime story in which you do not read about the investigation, you run it. You receive the case files as envelopes: reports, statements, photographs with their backs, maps and device logs. Every envelope ends with a control question. A good answer opens the next one, and everything adds up to a solution that you fill in yourself on a card: who, how and why.
Ostatni Odczyt runs in the browser. There is no installer, no app-store download and no box of cards. You open the page, sign in and play.
What you can play on
- a computer (most comfortable): a big screen makes sheets and maps easier to work with,
- a tablet: a good choice for the sofa,
- a phone: it works, and you can add the game to the home screen like an app.
One account is enough for the whole team. You play at one screen or each on your own device, signed in to the same account.
The tools at hand
This case is about measuring, overlaying and counting, so everything is on screen:
- 1:1 sheets with a ruler (shoe prints, railing width, distances on a map, accurate to half a millimetre),
- a light table for laying one sheet over another,
- a time converter that brings clocks, cameras and phones to one time,
- a cipher wheel for things someone wrote so that not everybody could read them,
- music and sound that you mute with one tap.

Saved progress and working offline
Progress is saved on your account, so you can start on a computer and finish on a tablet. You need the internet to buy and to load the game the first time. Parts you have already opened keep working offline, and progress syncs to the account when the connection returns.
You pay once
You buy access once, with no subscription, and it stays on your account for good. You pay on the payment provider's page: by BLIK, a quick bank transfer, a card or a phone wallet. The game is on your account right after payment. If you like, you can also buy it as a gift.

Do I need to install anything?
No. The game runs in a modern browser. On a phone you can add it to the home screen so that it opens like an app.
Do I need the internet all the time?
No. It is needed to buy and for the first load. The parts you have opened keep working offline, and progress syncs later.
How many players?
From 1 to 6. The whole team plays on one account: at one screen or on several devices.
How long does the whole case take?
About 5-7 hours. It is best split over two evenings.

15 and over. The game is about a person's death and an investigation, with no graphic images.
